Estimate a concept of scientific research from the point of view of Thomson Reuters.

Citation plays an important role in the career of each scientist. The total number of citations and performance indicators should be indicated in all reports, they affect career development and the success of applications for funding for future projects. In this regard, "how to make it so that we are quoted" becomes extremely relevant. It should also be noted that citing the researcher's work is not only a bureaucratic assessment of his activities, but also an indicator of his scientific significance and authority. From this you should create your own brand of scientist. At the same time, under the brand, I understand the scientist's firm connection with his research, that is, when by name one can immediately name the field of scientific interests of the scientist and vice versa. The brand or image of a scientist, the "name" of a scientist, affects his recognizability. And the recognition of the scientist and his work leads to his citing by other researchers in his publications. But we must admit that creating a brand is not an easy task, which requires the costs of a certain time and resources. And most importantly - a clear understanding of the purpose for which the brand is created. The basis of the scientist's brand are his research and achievements. And the more qualitative these studies are, the stronger the brand. Any scientific work can be characterized in terms of relevance and novelty. Despite some formalism of these categories, they are of the utmost importance in science. the relevance of the work characterizes the work under consideration in the context of other studies in this subject area: to what extent does the subject line correspond to current trends in research? Novelty is what distinguishes this work from all other works: what was done in this work at a qualitatively different level ?. The search platform Web of knowledge provides access to scientific publications from around the world in different subject areas. It helps to make your research qualitative, helps you to decide on the actual and to demonstrate the uniqueness of your research. In order for your scientific achievements to become recognizable, you need to make them accessible. Traditionally, two main methods are used in science: the publication of articles in scientific journals and the presentation at conferences.

32) The agency Reuters (English Reuters [rɔɪtərz]) - one of the world's largest international news and financial news agencies, exists since the middle of the XIX century.

In 2008, it was bought by Thomson Corporation, which after that became known as Thomson Reuters.

Reuters Group plc is a public company, the shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and are included in the FTSE 100 Index.

Reuters was founded in 1851 by Paul Julius Reuter, who opened the first office of the future agency in London for the exchange of news in Paris with the help of a new telegraph cable. Before that, he used postal pigeons to transfer stock exchanges between Aachen and Brussels.

Soon was created The Reuter's Telegram Company. The main news reports of the new company were commercial news [3].

In 1858, the first newspaper, the London Morning Advertiser, was subscribed to the Reuters newsletters [4]. In the future, other printed publications joined it.

The agency expanded the coverage of topics falling within its sphere of interest, and soon earned the reputation of the most operative news aggregator. In particular, Reuters was the first to report the murder of Abraham Lincoln. Currently, almost all major publications specializing in news are subscribed to the Reuters newsletters.

Reuters (a member with Bloomberg and Dow Jones (see Factiva)) is one of the top three providers of financial information for professional participants in financial markets. Thomson Reuters Eikon [en], replaced Reuters 3000 Xtra).

Estimate an index of the scientist's publication citing from Scopus position.

Scopus is Elsevier’s abstract and citation database launched in 2004. In 2009, the Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB) was formed to develop an objective system of evaluation and validation of peer-reviewed journals for inclusion or exclusion in Scopus against transparent and fair criteria. It covers nearly 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 Inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and Health Sciences. It covers three types of sources: Book Series, Journals, and Trade Journals. All journals covered in the Scopus database, regardless of who they are published under, are reviewed each year to ensure high-quality standards are maintained. Searches in Scopus also incorporate searches of patent databases. It gives four types of quality measure for each title, those are h-Index, CiteScore, SJR (SCImago Journal Rank) and SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper).

h-index

An h‐index of X means that Np papers have at least X citations each, and the other (Np ‐ X) papers have at most X citations each. Most frequently the h‐index is used to measure scientific output of an author, but the h-index can also be calculated for an institution, country or journal.

The h-index can be manually determined using citation databases or using automatic tools. Subscription-based databases such as Scopus and the Web of Knowledge provide automated calculators. Each database is likely to produce a different h for the same scholar, because of different coverage. A detailed study showed that the Web of Knowledge has strong coverage of journal publications, but poor coverage of high impact conferences. Scopus has better coverage of conferences, but poor coverage of publications prior to 1996; Google Scholar has the best coverage of conferences and most journals (though not all), but like Scopus has limited coverage of pre-1990 publications. The exclusion of conference proceedings papers is a particular problem for scholars in computer science, where conference proceedings are considered an important part of the literature
