COMPUTERS

The computer has become an important tool for collecting, recording, analyzing and distributing tremendous masses of information. To manage the large organization and solve the most complex problems in production the engineers have to employ the computers.

Today computers are nearly everywhere in any industry. One uses computer in all forms of automatic control in industry because of its ability to control powerstations and docks. Computers are used in machine designing including other computers. If the computers were not worked out people wouldn't be able to predict the consequences of various decisions in economy.

Any stage of production or assembly work is monitored by computer control systems. Different systems are known to be developed and to be introduced in the industry to increase the efficiency and safety of all the manufacturing processes. These systems should be programmable, flexible and reliable. By applying such ones engineers are able to put into operation, control the operation and prevent any device failure or malfunctioning equipment.

The principal thing to be understood is that the computer has become the most powerful toll in many spheres of life. The computer saves many years of monotonous work performed by hand. Some people believe computers to be able to solve problems yet unsolved by man. This clever machine should be called an electronic brain.

Initially, the computer was designed as a tool to manipulate numbers and thus to solve arithmetic problems. Although designed for arithmetic purposes at present they are used for a great variety of tasks. Nowadays computers are considered to be complicated machines for doing arithmetic and logic. The computer has become an important and powerful tool for collecting, recording, analyzing and distributing tremendous masses of information.

Today computers are nearly everywhere. One uses them in all forms of automatic control in industry: they can control the running of steel works, power stations and docks. The computer forms a part of many military systems including communications and fire control. Their applications include automatic piloting and automatic navigation.

Computers are used in astronomy and upper atmosphere research. Weather forecasting, library information services and hospitals can benefit from computer too. Computers can even be used to design machines including other computers.

 Thus, computers are known to help our space program, our business and industry.
