Law and human rights protection

Law plays different parts in life of every person; it means distinctive things for each of us. But what is law exactly for us? Actually, law is a set of special legal rules, enforceable by the courts, regulating the government of a state, relationship between the organs of government and the subjects of the state, and the relationship or conduct of subjects towards each other. Actually, it is a rule or body of rules made by the legislature for keeping order in one state. But it is just a definition. In life of an ordinary citizen law is something that makes people create society and live mostly in piece by common rules. People have to be governed by law to avoid illegality and therefore uncontrolled behavior. There cannot be any normally existing large group of people, not being restricted by legal norms. Even in ancient times people created customs and traditions, that later was named as common law. And now we can see that every society has tried to make any rules to settle social behavior. Let’s imagine the situation that there isn’t law in one «state». Here this word is in quotes because basically state can’t exist without law, that’s why it seems to us, the more suitable definition in that case is «the territory, where people live». And what will we see in this place? A lot of people behaving themselves as they want, murdering without any punishment, committing vandalism, but for all that escaping blame and conviction. People in such situation don’t know what is right or wrong, they have no possibility to find it out. Such «state» won’t exist for a long time, at first society will have to create common law and then find a leader. No law, no govern, no rules, no society, no human rights protection. Everything is very well connected. Moreover, legislation is integral part of law, just legal codes, passed by the government, give guaranty to people that all rules won’t change in different cases, that you always have documents, laws, defending your rights. Law can’t exist without it. Without written laws society stays on the initial stage of development. That’s why legislation composes the interpretation of law too. First of all law is for strong order in our society, people’s support and their confidence in the future. All this should be provided by the government by passing necessary laws and people’s strict observance of those rules. It won’t be any state without such conditions.

Survey report

       A survey was carried out in Newtown, California, to find out how green people are.

The results of the survey show that only a few people have used public transport in the last two weeks but everybody has travelled into town by car.

Most of the people interviewed have bought a hamburger in a plastic container and several people have picked up litter and put it in a bin.

A small number of people have taken bottles to a bottle bank or recycled paper but none of the people interviewed has paid more for something because it is environmentally friendly.

A large number of people have worn a fur coat and everybody has used plastic bags for their shopping.

Nobody has bought organic fruit or vegetables in the last two weeks.

The results of the survey suggest that the inhabitants of Newtown, California, are not very green.   

Nature and man: Environmental Protection

Many centuries ago people lived in harmony with nature because industry was not much developed. There was no ecological problem until people built lots of plants and factories which sent wastes into the air, water and land where they didn't disappear but lasted forever in one form or another. Nowadays people live only according to their wants and requirements; they ignore the laws of nature. That's why today the contradictions between man and nature are dramatic. People are slowly destroying the nature environment around them. Another reason why there is such high level of air pollution in large cities is because of car exhaust fumes from very intensive transport. A great number of plants get used to dump poisonous chemical wastes in rivers, lakes and seas that has led to polluting water and killing fish life. At present time pollution from sinking ships and tankers with oil is increasing and there is a strong destruction of sea life. We face the fresh water supply problem today because of the depletion of water resources and the disruption of water cycle.

Speaking about atmosphere we should mention ozone holes which are result of air pollution and their increase can lead to the destruction of the whole great chain of life of our planet. The pollution of the air, oceans, seas, rivers and lakes and the destruction of the ozone layer could lead our planet to a global catastrophe. But the most terrible catastrophe of our age is the Chernobyl disaster which has resulted not only in atomic explosion but has brought death to 300 thousands hectares of farm lands and has affected the lives of millions of people. The radiation doses have affected and will continue to affect the health of people living in contaminated areas.

 The Earth is our home that's why we must take measures to fight land pollution and keep our environment clean; we must plant trees and flowers and take care of animals, we must not throw our wastes into the rivers. In many countries environmental protection organizations such as "Green Peace", "Friend of the Earth", "World Wild Life Fund" are set up which try to put pressure upon the governments that don't care for ecology in their countries. The humankind will be able to survive only if we all realize that environmental protection is our universal concern.
